Good Way to Make a Skimmer Stand?

So, I was wondering what the best way to make a skimmer stand is. On my 110 I have a piece of egg crate with four pvc legs. It's really unstable, so I want to do a better job in my 75's sump. What do you guys do?

Put a piece of plexiglass on top of 2-3" PVC pipe "legs". The plexiglass is sturdier then egg crate.
