fix PC popped ballast?

I had a duel Power compact light I took the fan out of to clean. It sounded like an airplane landing. Anyway I took it out, cleaned it, and attempted to install it. One wire came off the light switch, and the other to the wire coming from the ballast. Well I crossed the wires when they were connected and it popped! :frustrat: That light side did not turn on after wiring it up. Is there a fuse i can change (I'm doubting this) or is the whole balast shot?

Can you post pics of the wiring?

Show what wires came loose and where you attached them. Also, most ballasts have a wiring diagram on them. Double check that. Double check that the breaker that you are plugging the light fixture into is on.

Could have also blown the bulb.

You can also check out 1000 Bulbs. They have inexpensive ballasts. Cheaper than a local electric supply house.

You had it off and unplugged to work on, I hope! Ballasts act a charged capacitor if plugged in with no bulb, and can pack a pretty good wallup.

Yes it was unplugged when i was working on it. the fan was ran inline with one of the switched and ballasts. One of the wires was touching and it popped. I'm hoping it was just a light bulb
