i have the hang on bh2000 skimmer and it seems like the bubbles are coming from that black sponge thing. like maybe theres algae growing on it. has anyone experienced this? what should i do?

i would say clean the sponge out. and see how that works.

Do the bubbles go away if you remove the sponge? If so, get rid of the sponge. If you keep the sponge, it should be cleaned every week.

I have a BH1000 and I took out all the sponges that are inside the unit because they end up collecting crud.
Regarding the bubbles, as long as they are not causing the return chamber to overflow and not causing the skimmer to skim too wet then it is OK for the interior to bubble up a lot.

So I figure out that its not that sponge. Some of the bubbles r making it to the return chamber and I'm getting micro bubbles in my tank. Is there a way I can turn it down?

OK so I moved the intake cup as far down as I could and I noticed that there were less bubbles. Also I put that black sponge ring over the middle holes in the outlet cup (bubble diffuser thing).. I'm still getting a little bit of micro bubbles but they pretty much stay on the surface of the water and flow down my overflow.
