Epoxy?

Dang. Does the putty have a warning on the back? That's what's worrying me.
It says
"Hardener contains quartz silica, isophorone diamine, benzyl alcohol, propylene glycol, titanium dioxide and amine curing agents. Do not get in eyes or on skin. Do not breathe vapors."
Sounds dangerous to the tank to me.

Epoxies dry or cure chemically. The Isophorone diamine is part of the curing agent that mixes with the amine curing agents. Also it helps make the solid form of epoxy light stable. THe glycol and alcohol should evaporate during the curing process because the chemical reaction creates heat. The Titanium dioxide is a pigment.

I don't know if there is enough silica in it to make it a concern. I do believe that the epoxy would need to be breaking down to release it.

Where's the chemist ?

that's awfully powerful stuff to glue a coral to a rock. I just wouldn't risk it..that's typically used to repair watercraft....

I know... maybe I'll just go back and get the two part putty...
The husband went into Lowe's and I told him to pick up "2 part epoxy". That's what he came home with...

This is what I do:
Drill holes into rock
insert end of frag plug into hole
Be happy :)
that would entail having to pull your rock work out of the tank though. Too much of a headache for me, especially if I want to attach it to one of the rocks in the bottom of the pile
