Electronic HQI MH Ballast Life?

How long do you think a Sunlight Supply Blue Wave 3 HQI Ballast is good for? Here's the link for the ballast I'm talking about.

I recently posted another thread on behalf of my brother on 250W HQI bulbs. He bought cheaper light and it comes with a cheaper ballast. I know a guy the same ballast as above, but it was used for just under a year. He switched to LED's and no longer needs it. He is selling for $100. I think for $29 more he should buy a brand new one, but I"m not sure.

HQI ballasts are magnetic and pretty much last forever. I have a couple mag ballasts I've used for 20 yrs and they still work fine.

Ok, I got the ballast over the weekend. It's a Sunlight Supply Blue Wave 3 250W HQI Ballast. It came with a lamp cord that needs to be hard wired to the lighting pendant of your choice.

Here's the ballast.



Here's a pic of the lamp cord. It's the 2nd one.

Power and Lamp Cords

The HQI pendant already has a prewired lamp cord that fits in the current ballast. What's the best way to wire the new lamp cord? Can I cut the old plug off and splice this one in or do I need to take the fixture apart and wire directly?

Or can I use the existing plug on the fixture and plug it into the second port on the ballast for the AC?
