I have bought the above pump for my sump...it comes with two connectors...one is 3/4 and the other is 1"

Does it matter if i connect the one from input to output? the socket sizes are the same and both connectors screw in with the same precision.

can i leave the input hole with out a connector?

Yes. It looks like it would have a prefilter assembly. I would see no risk in running it open it it standing in its own section in the sump. It should have come with a different housing assembly.
