Did my frogspawn kill my starburst polyps?

My starburst polyps are completely retracted this morning which I have never seen. I think I made a mistake - a few days ago I rearranged corals and put my frogspawn within a few inches of it. But it didnt look like the frogspawn could reach the polyps. Is it possible to sting and kill all of the polyps? If it stings one will it kill the whole colony?

It is possible. It is also possible that the frogspawn shaded them and when you move the frogspawn, they will come back out.

I moved the frogspawn further away from it. Then as I was running out the door I looked at it again and saw a few green tips coming out! Yay, I'm so relieved!

Frogspawns can have stinging tentacles that come out at night that are several inches longer than their normal tentacles that you see during the day.

hmm good to know, is there a recommended distance to keep them away from other corals? i might be getting a frog soon but may need to rearrange since thats the case

It depends. I have had several euphyllias where I don't see any long stinging tentacles. But I had a hammer that had ones that were 4 inches long. You may just have to place it and watch and see what happens.
