Im setting up my new 29 gallon, running Powerhead and surface skimmer to a Fluval C4, just for now, but while I'm cycling the tank should I be cleaning of sections of the filter, it has foam, charcoal, and bio rocks.
You don't have to do anything, as far as cleaning, during the cycle(it prolongs the cycle)...after the cycle, then you can start your regular maintenance cleanings. :)
