Cycling question

Hey I am thinking about setting up a 10 gallon nano reef... I have a question if put live rock and live sand and I take water out of my 55gallon to fill it will it still need to cycle? Or no? Please answer thank you!

If its out of the water for less than a half hour, id say you are more than likely going to skip a cycle. But i still wouldnt rush to fill the tank with fish and corals.

If you use live rock from your existing tank and use new sand (the old will be all full of gunk if you try and reuse it) you can probably skip a cycle

if you mean new live rock from the store and just using some water from your old tank you will still have they die off from the rocks and the old water wont have enough bacteria in it to avoid a cycle
