so what is a good clean up crew member for the algae that grows along the very bottom glass along the sand. and also for the top layer of sand... what will eat off the layer of gunk hah

You can try cerith snails. They burrow into the sand and will clean the glass that is at the sand line.

Cerith snails might do the job, but you're asking for a miracle. Almost everyone has that ring around the aquarium problem.

+1 Dave. Yes, we all deal with that glass ring problem as its super hard to clean the edges of the glass unless you're in there with a razor blade every week.

i know that theres no animal that can keep a glass completely clear but just something to help slow down the ring... just because it appears so fast since i dont wanna use the algae scrubber that close.

Although it's not recommended I gently move the sand back away from the glass and scrub that :pooh: away.

Get a MagFloat algae scraper with an Easy Blade attachment. That'll take care of it for you.
