Cleaning Skimmer

What's the best way to clean my Euro Reef Skimmer. Not the cup but the whole body of it. Run it in a vineger and water solution??

I've never cleaned any part of my skimmer except the neck, pump and collection cup. The body of my skimmer doesn't get dirty at all.

Is your skimmer receiving bright light? Lots of what adheres to some skimmers is growth not filth. Some people cover their skimmers with a black plastic bag and go from cleaning their skimmer monthly to once a year. A skimmer should never be scrubbed, acids and alkaline both work good used one after the other as long as good rinsing is done. IE a solution of vinegar follow by Drano drain cleaner in water. Rinsed with plenty of clear water. Use just a soft rag to clean with and wear gloves. Really though all that should need cleaning is the neck, air inlets, needle wheels and or venturis. That and the skimmate cup.
