can i get just any shells?

I have about ten hermits of different sizes and I read that they need shells to move into after moulting. Do these have to be special shells or could I just buy a bag of decorative shells from Walmart? They are normal sea shells, the the sprial like they already live in, not painted or anything. Or do I have to buy special hermit shells?

Yeah, those are fine. Any shells that look similar to what they have now will do.

Hermits will stick their butts in anything you give them pretty much. I seen one in a beer bottle cap somewhere before LOL

If they have shell options though they should leave your snails alone.

Too bad I'm at Walmart right now and they are re doing the whole store and got rid of the shells! They had thousands of them..
