Are hermit crabs helping or hurting feather duster?

Hello,
The very small hermit crabs we have as part of beginning CUC are on the hermit crab then off and so on. The question is do you think they are helping or hurting it? The feather duster still comes out and seems happy but my son is worried.

If the feather duster seems happy, I wouldn't worry too much. If they were staying on it and eating it, I would worry. Sounds like they are just passing through. ;)

Sometimes they seem to linger. We will watch them.
