Algae Springing up

Hey,

So I have been cycling my tank for about a week now using dead sand/rock and over the last day or so I have noticed all of this algae springing up. I figured it was a normal part of tank cycling but I just want to check and make sure. Is this normal for a cycling tank or do I need to do something to stop it?

Are you talking about those dark spots on the sand?

I haven't a clue on what type of algae that is.I wouldn't worry about it during the cycling period.

It could be just diatoms, my rocks were cover with brown spots during the cycle and they were diatoms.
