I'd go with a 24" four bulb fixture. Two bulbs might get you by with some soft corals, but that's about it. I have a two bulb and my zoanthids are doing fine, but they would probably be thriving with a four bulb fixture.

I just went about my normal tank duties. I tried sand cleaning and siphoning them off the rocks, but they would just come back the next day. You just got to let the tank run its course. I kind of took it as a good sign of a maturing tank. : ]

I'm going through the brown algae phase also. I don't even attempt to clean them off. They come back super fast, but will go away with time.

Size of the tank is an issue for you. With the smaller tank size, you'll definitely not want to spend money of fish that are going to end up bullied to death. If you upgraded to a 100+ gallon tank then you might have a better chance.

I find that when I get a fish I'm not too thrilled about, that it grows on me.
