I moded an aquaclear 70 filter into a refugium. So far it only has some chemi-pure in it. I need some macro!

Carbon is very porous and absorbs a lot of nasties in the water, including odor. It will become used up and you'll have to buy more. Chemi-pure is a nice carbon product. I'm planning on getting some today actually.

Getting your phosphates down will be your best option in the long run. I think certain hermits will go after it if its short enough.

Yeah you can try siphoning it out, but it'll just come right back. It'll disappear on its own.

It sounds like diatoms. It will go away on its own. Some times it takes for ever to go away. You never know though.

I think you could raise them, but you'd have to watch out for any filtration that might kill the babies. Are you talking about ghost shrimp?

I'd say you could feed multiple times during the day just make sure they're small portions. I know Nemo feed his tank multiple times during the day, but he has triggers and some heavy eating fish.

They can get kind of big but its just they graze algae like mad, hence their name. A lot of them starve if they clean out your tank of algae and don't eat prepared foods. Some of them are just pigs though : ]

4 or 5 fish would be good for your tank. I'd get one larger show kind fish and a few smaller ones. I personally would like a tank with more smaller fish instead of a couple huge fish. Remember that some fish add a huge bioload, like lawnmower blennies. Hope you have fun deciding what fish to...
