    Moving My Tank

    1. Just move them to a holding tank, either a rubbermaid or a small tank. Then can live for the day or so it takes to move the tank 2. Yep. 3. Weather can have an effect on an exterior wall tank but as long as you a couple of good heaters and decent insulation in your house you should be fine.

Reefwise: New Fish Store in Lisle, IL

I had the opportunity to go by Reefwise, a brand new reef shop in Lisle, Illinois and they were absolutely amazing. The shop is a decent size, but very very new (only been open for 3 weeks). Right now the only have corals, but fish should be here in about 2 weeks and dry goods just after that...

    Fish Suggestions

So I ended up just adding inverts to the order: sexy shrimp, bumblebee and astrea snails, a brittle star, and a acropora crab for my colony that doesn't have one. It was quite the debate about whether to add more Anthias, and I may end up doing that at some point. Thanks for everyone's help!

    Fish Suggestions

Based on a recommendation from Bob Fenner at WetWebMedia I ordered some New Life Spectrum Small Fish Pellets which should arrive tomorrow, hopefully they will eat it and it will help their immune systems. I'm a little reluctant to put 5 Anthias in the tank as that would represent essentially...

My only concern is I wouldn't want them eating my corals.

    Fish Suggestions

Hey All, One of my Anthias passed last week leaving me with two. He was eating, but never gained any weight sadly. Anyway, since Anthias do best in odd numbered groups I want to go ahead and get another one ordered. In order to make the shipping from LiveAquaria less obscene I was thinking of...

    MP10 enough?

Not sure if you made your decision already, but I was running 2 MP10s at about 60% strength on my 30, and now have 1 MP 40 on my custom 90 (36" Long). The 2 MP10s were great, but obviously had to be dialed down a bit, but the mp40 isn't enough for my 90. Its not set at full which irritates the...

    Eric's 90 Gallon Upgrade

Little update. The one Anthias ended up dying from the bacterial infection, but LiveAquaria was relatively good about shipping out a replacement which is doing great. The Anthias finally seem to be building up a little bit of bulk. I've also started following the Red Sea Coral Pro program, and...

    Test Kit Question

If its not too late, don't buy the Calcium checker. Its very inconsistent. I can run the same test 3 times in a row and get results that very by 50 ppm. I am a big fan of the Alkalinity checker and use the phosphate checker as well. For Ca and Mag I'm using the Red Sea Pro kits.

Why is my water getting so salty?

I was going to say the same thing, you can get salt buildup on the little arrow thing. I would give it a vinegar bath and test again.

    Eric's 90 Gallon Upgrade

Yeah the tank looks great, and miracles was relatively easy to work with. The only complaint I have is that they didn't attach the overflow or bulkheads I purchased from them. Of course I had a non-traditional overflow done so that may have had something to do with it.

Finally! My 75 Gallon Full Blown Reef!

Looks great. Does the rubberband work to hold down the Ric? I have Zoa's that look similar to those wysiwig ones called "Whammin' Watermelon"

What is this on my rocks?

Yeah, there are lots of different kinds of coralline algae. Thats just a branching type instead of the commonly know plating kind.

What is this on my rocks?

Which stuff? The red stuff looks to be coralline algae.

d2mini's Epic Fantabulous New Reef Build

Awesome dennis, very exciting. I'd think you definitely want the 4 radians for good coverage. Did you consider doing a cost to coast overflow at one end of the tank instead of a center overflow? Would work well since its all concealed anyway. Are those architectural renders for your new place...
