Well the hermit took the prize, but the bristle is so long, did you see my post about my Coral Beauty dying today, looked as though it had been bitten?

Since you never saw it eating, I'd bet that the chunk got taken out of it after it died.

Sarah does all that red algae look like coraline , nitates still at around 20mg/l

yes quite a lot of it is below sand level, I scrape up quite a bit of algae from on top of the sand it all seems to stick together

Do you have any Nassarius snails? They'll help stir your sand bed.

That stuff below the sand looks like Cyanobacteria. I get it below my sand too especially when some natural sunlight gets on the tank.

On another note, it's hard to see but, that looks like a gorilla crab. They're usually bad crabs to have in a reef tank

Just pick it up from the back of the shell, or if you don't want to, lean an empty (clean) soda bottle with the top cut off where he usually stays, put some food in there, then when he's in, lift up the bottle. Your LFS may take him.
