boxfish ??????/????/

:sfish:i have a small box fish im not sure what box he is...hes like yellow with black spots...i was told he would only get 5" the biggest..is that true...and can i keep it...soon to real reef tank

I think 30 gallons may really cramp him soon.They are cute fish though,or are you upgrading?

Needs to have at least a 125 gallon tank. He will not last long in a 30 gallon tank.

OhNoNemo and Melosu are right.Box fish ,even though they are normally small,need a big tank.Most are also labeled expert only for a reason.
They also release toxins when they die,that will kill everything in your tank before you even know there is anything wrong.

I'm not trying to be a butt here.But you really need to do some research on this stuff before you buy it.A little research will save you a lot of headaches and money.

Boxfish are bad news in A) small tanks, and B) new tanks. Both of which is your situation.

I agree with Yote. You need to really read up on the animal BEFORE you buy it. Not after. And if there is a fish store you're going to that's telling you that you should buy these things, you really need to find another fish store. They are just telling you anything they need to to make a buck off of you. They are lying to you, and ripping you off.

i got the box fish becuase i was going to get a nother fish tank for puffers and boxfish...but not no more because ...cost to much to start a nother tank....and im not going back to that fish store...and i will look into the fish that i get....
