Cluster acropora

Kwater

Chill
I want to attempt to keep them. Is there any pointers or personal ecperiances u can share. I want to attempt to keep them because they are the hardest acroporas to keep. Thanx.

Never heard of a cluster acropora. Can you be a little more specific and give a scientific name?

Ha ha I have never heard an acro colony called cluster acro before, you hear and learn something new everyday. The colony that is pictured in that link is an Acropora milliopora they only listed as acropora species. :)

this acro is one of the easiest to keep out of the acropora sp.

I think that K is talking about A humillis,A. gemmifera,A. monticulosa, type Acros.
They've got to have strong intermittent flow.So you'll have to have some strong power heads set up on a wavemaker.Prestine water, and extremely stable calcium, alkalinity, and PH.
They'll do better in the higher PH range,8.4 to 8.5 is where they generally do the best.

If you were asking about milliopora specifically, they are probably the easiest to keep acropora. here's a couple pics or our limited edition. (born on the fourth of July)

Strong light high water flow coral (but this is true of all acros)

I agree. Here's 1 of mine.

Wow nice pics. And link. But actually I am looking for the one that is suppost to be one of the hardest acroporas. It needs surging water flow and high light. It was labled as cluster acropora. One of the hardest to keep

As I asked earlier, how about a scientific name. Common names are pretty useless.
Not sure what you mean by it being 1 of the hardest to keep. What makes this particular coral harder to keep than another? All acropora.sp corals need basically the same thing. High light, good random flow, stable water parameters and no excessive nutrients. Provide all 4 and you can keep whatever you want.
Common name. A staghorn is any branching acropora such as a.microphthalma, as opposed to a tabling acropora such as a.millepora.

K why don't you post a pic of the acro that you are talking about so that we can help you to identify it and give you some advice.

As ccapt says most acros require the same type of care.

I wish I could put a pic on but I can't but here is the scisntific name. The examples my book gives are A. aculeus, A. millepora, A. secale.

out of all three of those the hardest one to keep is going to be the a. aculeus which is a plating acropora. I posted a picture of the a. millepora (I spelled it wrong) and the a secale is very similar to the millepora.

If you are keeping staghorn you shouldn't have issues with any of these corals. They require the same type of care.
