Depends on what kind of coral it is.
SPS will bleach out,then either RTN or STN leaving behind bare skeleton.
With LPS,you'll usually see the fleshy part more or less melting away.
While a lot of soft corals will just melt.

Your live rock will die if it's not kept underwater, or if you add a chemical or medication to the tank (like copper).
 
But unlike corals you can bring live (or dead) rock back to life! So don't throw it out.
Wish that was the case with corals.

What kind of lights are you running?
And all corals need water flow.Some like a heavy flow,some like it a little slower.
Palys usually do good with a moderate flow.
