Im interested in getting a 250 to 300 gallon tank, is acrylic or glass a better choice?

You will have to weigh the pros and cons yourself.

Acrylic Pros

Light weight
Can be a seemless tank
More impact resistant than glass

Acrylic Cons

More Expensive than glass
Scratches easily

Glass Pros

Cheaper than acrylic
Scratch resistant

Glass Cons

HEAVY. Need 3 or 4 guys to move the empty tank
Can shatter if struck hard enough


Basically, it ends up being a personal preference that needs to be weighed out on an individual basis.

I would go with glass, just because of how easily acrylic scratches. I had a 240 gallon glass tank, and two guys were able to move it.

Glass! When you've got all kinds of algae growing on your walls you'll be glad you can clean, scratch and scrape to clean it off and not damage your tank

I agree with Biff. Glass will be a great choice. it dos help when it comes to cleaning algea.
