Anyone else have this problem? This is the second fish ive had to take chuncks outa my Acans. First was the flametail blenny, now my xmas wrasse did it. Its pissin me off too coz my Acans look great. If it continues hes gunna have to go! Any ideas why they do this and is there anything i can do to make him stop.

Yellow Clown Goby is pretty fish with personality but he likes to nip at corals like a little devil. The description at liveaquaria never told me this!

AWSOME....someone that feels my pain. It's begining to be really annoying. These descriptions of fish and their behavior isn't the greatest at ALL! Reef safe my ass!

Stupid wrasse, stupid blenny. and your stupid Goby. Ugh...

Sen, what does your goby nip at exactly? Like what corals?

I just copied this from live aquaria
Since the Yellow Clown Goby is peaceful, it makes a wonderful addition to any reef aquarium containing colonies of polyp corals. Here, this member of the Gobiidae family will swim and perch amongst the polyps. Care needs to be taken, however, with SPS corals since the Yellow Clown Goby may nip at the smaller polyps.

Well Dana, looks like its time to set -up that predator tank, and ditch those over rated corals:lol:, i'd much rather have that Christmas wrasse( you can send him my way:Cheers:)
but seriously ,that kinda sucks....what are you going to do?

Where did you read that the Christmas wrasse is reef safe?

Christmas Wrasse, Ornamented Wrasse - Halichoeres ornatissumus

All the websites say the same thing with very small differances. most say " Is a non-aggressive species that is compatible with other fishes and is safe with corals, but may be a threat to fan worms, small hermit crabs, snails, and ornamental shrimps."

IMO i was willing to take a loss on some hermits as i have to many as is. That doesn't really say its going to munch on your corals.

I'd ship him to you but they dont ship well at all and id hate to make u pay for shipping and then have him die on ya....your call. You want him, he's your for free, just reemburse me shipping costs. If not i'll prolly bring him up to the fish store where i got him. I told them ahead of time that if it didnt work out id be back and they told me that was fine. ...It does suck. He's easily the prettiest fish ive ever seen and the way he dances is frickin awsome. The fish only tank is gunna have to wait till the mantis tank is set up. Let me know Nemo what you wanna do. I'll take some pictures if you want. I'd like to have him out of the tank within a few days. Just made a nice homemade trap.

When they say reef safe they are not only talking corals. It could also mean inverts in the tank that help out in the reef. With your wrasse I`m sure he`s not safe for your inverts. As far as the corals there could just be a pod or flat worm or something he wanted to feed off of.
