What does your LFS charge for frags?

Just today i went in to look around and the frag tank is now marked 17.99:shock:....i was just in there last week and got a nice hammer frag for 10(was marked as frogspawn),and i got a few mushrooms for 5 bucks ...just wonder if this is the going rate now...it did get new management,and everything does look alot nicer and cleaner...

It depends. Plain looking hammers, frogspawns, candy canes, duncans and sun corals usually go for $10/head. Better colors are more expensive. Mushrooms usually run $5 to $10/polyp. Blastos run $20 to $30/polyp. My two LFSs are expensive, though. That's why I rarely buy corals from them.

I guess i figured it would depend on what they are,but its a tank marked all frags 17.99,,guess i better start learning what stuff is now....i do know he has colt coral frags for though..but they seem tiny...maybe 1/2 an inch

I think $17.99 for a colt frag is overpriced.

Depends on the LFS, and their competition I think. I can spend 10.00 on SPS frags out here at one store. They advertise all frags as 10.00. Of course the ORA stuff and Tyree stuff is a bit more but not through the roof.

Just be glad your lfs has cool stuff. Mine has plain colored stuff and the tanks have BA and aiptasia in them.

Funny thing is this store was not my LFS of choice..I went to a nice family run place for years till he closed up....now i'm forced to go here,which pales in comparison to my old place

MOst of the LFS I go to have a $10 frag tank but they are the lower end less colorful frags. I'd say on average you will spend between $10-$50 depending on what you're looking for.

I agree with that yote, i get big discounts because im a regular customer, but my LFS doesnt have frags, so he just makes them for free when he can ;)

I do buy a lot from him though.

If the local competition just went out of business, they might feel like they can raise the price and people will still purchase from them.

My LFS has frags ranging from 10-30 bucks depending on size and type of coral. Rics usually go for 10 bucks a polyp, frog spawn and hammers go for around 60-70 for a 4 or 5 head frag. Mushroom rocks tend to go for 40 bucks or so. SPS can go from 10-25 depending on type.

Man, you guys get charged so much for corals, especially hammers, i bought a 10 head colony for 30 dollars :S and a full colony of sps (large) is only 59 dollars. And this is australian dollars as well

Wow,,,,:grumble:...i would like to get more hammer..i actually like it,and under actinics its really cool,as are my new rics
