Water Testing

Hey everyone,

I've been learning alot and working at getting my tank the way I want it. Water chemistry is one of those areas where I still have alot to learn.

Currently I test for Phosphate, Nitrate, Nitrite, Ammonia, and pH

I currently have 2 Clown, 1 Yellowtail Damsel, 1 PJ Cardinal, 1 Blue Damsel, 1 Black & White Damsel, Cleaner Goby DUO - (Blue Neon & Yellow Line), 1 Green Star Polyp, 1 Duncan, Zoanthids, 1 mushroom (5 heads)

Should I be testing any other parameters? Thanks

R,
Rob

If you plan to have more hard corals, you will need to start testing for Calcium, Alkalinity and Magnesium as well.
With your current livestock, I would not worry about these just yet.

I have a 55 gallon tank with a 30 gallon sump/ref. Yes, technically I have 8 but the Blue Neon & Yellow Line are so small I didn't really count them. I know I'm at my limit and I'm thinking of adding more live rock because I'm getting some green hair algea which mean I have too much phsophates. My Ammonia and Nitrates and Nitrites are all 0 though.

Adding more live rock sounds like a good idea if you are planning to keep all those fish in your tank. Be aware of any any aggressive behavior between the fish too.

Good luck!

They all get along excep the 3 strip Damsel fsh will chase te yellowtail but has never hurt it yet. Thanks for the advice.
