Torch versus Mushroom -- Who wins?

I recently cut back my Mushroom (more like a massacre) because he was getting to close to my baby torch. The baby torch is a volunteer that I have fed and nurtured. The result is now that the Mushroom is expanding with new polyps towards the torch again The torch is really wedged good in a hole in the rock and it is no so easy to dig him out. I manhandled a nano-torch once and killed it.

With only a quarter inch between the two --what to do? Let'em fight? Dig'em out? Glue a shell between them? Other?

I would pull off the mushroom and move it far away.

That torch is gonna melt that shroom...would it look right if you placed a rock between them like a wall, or like you said, a shell maybe. I would think once the mushroom got too close to the torch, it would grow another direction to keep from being burned.

I think it depends on the type of mushroom Smitty. My hairy mushrooms sting everything they touch, even LPS like my bubble coral and candy canes. My "flat" mushrooms don't seem to pack a punch at all.

Mmm, how close is too close. I have a small torch and red mushrooms within 4 5 inches... i'm more worried about the torch ($$), though I don't want to harm the shroom either.
