Tiger cowrie

I just bought a tiger cowrie from my LFS, he said it would help my algae problems, even though I've read on some pages that it prefers meaty foods and is not reef safe, other pages says it eats algae and is reef safe... Anyone else that has one of these guys, I'd like to know what foods yours likes to eat, and if it has destroyed corals. More importantly, will it actually get rid of this hair algae? I'm desperate! Thanks!

Herbivorous, harmless to other invertebrates. Some what clumsy and may dislodge unattached corals and rock. May help with the hair algae if the green type. keep us posted on how the cowie works out.
