Whatsit? Local Reefer gave this to me today. He and his wife split and he is leaving town before she come back from wherever. He gave a bunch to another fellow but forgot he had this. So, I took it. I dipped it and acclimated it to my tank. Seems to be happy. I have it in moderate to high flow and in the middle of the water column. I have crappy lights so I hope it makes it till next week. (LEDs are coming:bounce:)

I thought it was a Frogspawn. Didn't realize they were in the "difficult" catagory though. Guess life in my tank is better than the trash can.

Any advice on keeping it healthy? I already feed phyto once a month so I should be good there. I'm waiting for delivery of two of the Taotronics dimmable 120w led fixtures. I'm hoping today, but more likely early next week. I'm adding a few Stunner led strips to the mix so lighting shouldn't be an issue. I'll let you know on that front later.

How about flow? I read moderate, but where I have it now its moving pretty good. Should I find it calmer waters? Its blowing hard enough, randomly that all the tentacles are pushed to the side and I can see the greenish stem. Again its randomly blowing hard. (what I call hard anyway) Kinda like an oscillating fan.

How about if it doesn't make it. (like my orange Fungia) Will in nuke my tank? Give me warning? What are the signs of distress?

Thanks!

They are not difficult. They are some of the easiest LPS to keep. Where do you see that they are difficult?

They don't eat phyto, but they usually will take meaty foods like krill, brine or mysis.

They don't like a lot of flow. They should sway gently, but not be blown over.

When they start to die, they will usually die off head by head.

From live aquaria:

" It is moderately difficult to maintain, but it is a popular coral that will thrive under proper conditions and excellent water quality parameters."

I have one at its super easy to maintain. I've placed in low in my tank where it gets moderate flow and light, and it's happy and recently split into two heads.
