starting 36 bow fowlr

starting up a 36 bow fowlr. i dont have much experience in salt water but have been doing tons of research. any way my question. the way my stand is i have no room for a sump. so do i just run a HOB skimmer? I have the tank running. live sand and about 20lbs of dry rock in tank now. any other sugestions or hints to get going? power head necesary? and any particular lighting recomended for my application.

I strongly suggest you get a power head in there moving the water around. No need for lights at this point and an HOB skimmer will work for you. Others will chime in who have more experience so just wait for it!

Powerheads are critical to a healthy tank, and a skimmer is a good thing too. However, a skimmer isnt 100% need a small tank, regular water changes will do you just fine.

The marineled reef bright LEDs seem to work well for small tank, or a 4 bulb t5 fixture or a metal halide pendant will work well.
