You haven't done anything wrong.. and I don't expect you will.. on purpose as with most of us..
but would like to share.. if you take the mental attitude that these animals are non-replaceable and you are their care taker.. and must at all cost keep them alive.. it adds a lot of value and kick to the hobby. It also at times adds a lot of frustration.. but it drives you to constantly improve. .. you get addicted.. LOL..

the biggest thing with salinity is if it is low or high, don't do an extreme water change to raise or lower (and certainly never dump salt right into the tank). Consistency is key, small changes...
