Question: Live rock

Bluespace

Reefing newb
Hello all,

I recently purchased some live rock. For the most part the rock looks pretty good with no smell. However there is one rock that has what looks like dead coral but I'm not 100% sure. The rock has since been removed from my tank untill I figure this out.

Not sure to leave as is or remove and put back in the tank. My tank is brand new just starting the cycle.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Sweet thanks for the info..;-)

I've posted that pick on a few different forums and no one could tell me what it was. I think I'll stick around.

+1 Biff and D. The skeletons are good in that they are high in calcium and trace elements. Some people even sell the skeletons for use in your sump to help stabilize parameters. So definitely toss that guy back in the tank.
