Is it dead ???

I bought this live rock with a clam on it. It has been closed ever since I bought it. The guy at the store said he didn't know if it was alive when I bought it or not. I've had it for about 3 months. Today it opened. Does that mean it's dead now ? If it is, what do I do with it ?

Is there anything in the shell? If it's just an empty shell, then it's dead. If there is flesh in the shell it may still be alive.

From the looks of it, and with the shell being open that wide, it looks like it is dead.

What should I do with it ? Will it be OK to leave it in there ?

It's just the shell that's left. So that's fine to leave in there.

I have never had luck with those type of little hitch hikers. They live for a few weeks then kick the bucket! :grumble:

It is a conversation piece. It's right out front and center. I just bought it cause it looked different. I bought a Clarki Clown, him and the Pseudochromis chase each other around the tank constantly !!! They don't nip at each other, just chase. My next purchase will be a Coral Beauty.
