Hob refugium

I have a hob bio wheel filter that I'm no longer running. Would it be possible to turn it into a hob refugium. I was thinking of gutting it. Removing the filter media and bio wheels. Putting some chaeto and live rock in there with maybe a clip on led light. Would that work?

I've actually setup something like that before. I would not bother with live rock and just rely on live rock in your display. My filter has the intake tube go into a chamber which I stuffed with filter floss for mechanical filtration (I replaced it weekly) The water then flowed into the main chamber which had chaeto . You need a bit of mechanical filtration to remove larger particles in the water. A clip-on led is great.
