It wasn't me!
I noticed this what I thought was a sponge growing on my Blastos. It has spread now to about half of the colony. It isn't really soft feeling like a songe either. I am thinking of using my fragging kit to scrap it, and pull it off the clolny so they will open up more. They open now, they just seem to be restricted as to their size when they do. Anyone have any info on this stuff, good, bad or indifferent?

I have no idea on those Wade.
You might could use a sharp hobby knife and scrape them off.

That's what I did Yote. It was all inbetween the heads. I got about 80-90% of it off very carefully and put it back in the DT. Guess we'll see what happens now.

Well, I used a fragging blade and cut and carefully scraped as much away as I could (which was quite alot). The thing is, it grew all the way to the flesh so I had some trouble gettig it off that close. I didn't get it all but I did get about 90% of it. I'm gonna give it a week and see what happens.

As far as I can tell the Lobo is doing fine. All the heads are open during light period.

Well it sounds like the lobo will be ok and it didn't really get harmed by the mystery growth. Let's hope it continutes to stay on the right track.

For the record, those are a type of foraminiferans called Homotrema rubrum. Little single celled organisms.

Harmless unless theyre in the way of a coral opening or something.

LOL, no they aint! For the record their called rose garden fertilizer as I threw them in the rose plants with the waste water .

But thank you for figuring it out. They were at a stage where they were beginning to get in the way.

I have those little thins on my LR here and there. But I've never had one on my corals....LOL...Garden Fertilizer.:D

It'd be funny if you went outside and saw them growing on your roses .

I dump all my waste water into the rose garden. LMAO If that stuff grew on my roses I'd yank that Lobo outta my tank in a heartbeat.
