I'd get one of these. It's what I use for my water change stuff. Since it's plastic, you don't have to worry about it shattering if you want to take it right out of the water. You will need about a 100 watt heater to heat 30 gal IMO but most people use the 5 watt per 1 gal rule. With water change water though, it just needs to be close, not exact.
