Fragging a Sponge

Anyone ever done it? I have a large blue sponge in my tank. A piece about 2" tall has broken off the back side of it. Is it feesible to frag this? I know I can't let the sponge get to the air, so if it is possible what's the best way of going about it?

i wish i knew what to tell you. but i have no idea. try rubberbanding it to a rock

Didn't think of that. Do you think it will end up attaching itself to the rock after a while?

Sponges,as a lower form invertebrate do not have specialized cells. You could theoretically put a sponge in a blender and the cells if they survived would regrow to form seperate colonies. So in theory, fragging a spong should be pretty easy...in theory.
