Feeding frogspawn

I have had this frogspawn for over a year and he has never eaten i relized. It appears his health has decreased, when the lights are on he is not fully extended and when the lights are off and he is closed up he allmost looks dead he is competly tucked in and it looks really bad. But, when i feed him the food just seems to float around in his tenticals until it eventualy floats away, he never eats. My queston is how can i get him to eat and any other tequnikes to feeding them. Thanx for all help :)

While frogspawns benefit from feedings, it's not necessary for them. The reason it's not opening fully is more likely due to your lighting or flow. How much flow is on it, there should only be so much that the polyps are gently waving in the current.
However, when you are trying to feed shut off all the current in your tank. And what I do is drag a turkey baster through the polyps while gently shooting brine or mysis shrimp through them.

What lights are you running?

They are one of the corals that doesn't need to be fed but can be fed if you want it to reproduce/grow bigger.Cyclopeeze and mysis with the pumps off makes good food for target feeding. If you have aggressive fish,I suggest feeding right after the lights goes out.

I don't feed my frogspawn and other than a temperature related incident lad summer it is doing great.

I find I just can't get it to eat the food. The hammer next to it on the otherhand readily consumes the food.

I wouldn't be to worried about the feeding, just get the lighting, water and waterflow right and it will be fine.

Ok thanx everyone.
He is under 2 54 watt t5 lights, one blue one white. My water perimiters are all at acceptable measures as well. And the flow on the frogspawn is low.

Those lights aren't sufficient to support it... Approximately 100 watts of light over an 80 gallon tank is not nearly enough. If you want to help your frogspawn, upgrade lights.

Right there it is.

Just for a referance, I have 96 watts of t5's over my 29 gallon tank. Deffinantly need more over yours.

For now, you could move the frogspawn directly under the lights and up to the top half of the tank.
