Don't know if I am in for trouble...

Ok, so I went to home deopt today and they didn't have anything for flex plumbing, so I solved the problem with what they had... Heres basically how everything is plumbed... From Magdrive 18, there is a 1" union to a check valve, into a 1" tee... From there, it tees off into 1/2" flex tubing all the way upto my return bulkheads... I am going to water test this tomorrow, but does anyone have any negative thoughts on this... I think I will just have some intense flow coming from the returns... Please let me know your thoughts.... Thanks...

Sounds good to me. Why do you think there would be a problem? I'm running the MagDrive 18 as the return pump on my 240. It's not as strong as I would like it to be, but anything more powerful than that jumps in price exponentially.

It will give you a stronger flow out the end at the top, may restrict flow a bit, not sure how much though. I use a 3/4" return on mine. Have 4 total...

I do have a ball valve, but didn't put it on... Should I put it back on... Is it just there to throttle back on the flow of the pump?

If you don't have something to control the pump, you risk flooding your display tank. If the pump moves the water faster than your overflows can drain it, that's what will happen.

I made the mistake of not putting in a ball valve right away, later down the line when my overflow started to slow due to natural algae build up and stuff and daily cleaning was getting ridiculous I decided to shut down my sump for a while and install the valve. made like a lot easier... especially with an ATO pumping water into the sump because the pump is too fast, it never did flood, but it was brimming the top of the display. worst case scenario you leave it fully open forever and never have to limit it at all.

Actually, I just water tested the whole system and the returns shot all the way across the tank, so nevermind... Yeah, now all I have to do is seal everything and let is cure then stock...
