Corals with the worse sting?

What corals are the most dangerous and/or have the worse sting?

I know Zoas can kill you.

I have never been stung by any corals or anemones, and I've touched them all. I must keep wusey corals! :lol:

Some fish are immune, same way clowns live in anemones, and other fish actually eat anems.

Recenlty my mandarin dragonette has taken to picking Sushi roe off my plate coral. Some fish, like the MD, are covered with a protective slime coat.

You think some kind of anemone would have the most potent sting,right?I had an article from WWM or somewhere else,I can't remember.

No.1 most potent sting-Elegance coral followed by Hydnophora coral.

Both of those will FIRE you up.Especially if they come in contact with a cut on your hands.

YES! I always handle my corals bare-handed and have never noticed stings. But on the occasions that I have had an open cut, DAMN I FEEL IT!

I never put my hands in the tank without gloves on. Being diabetic, it feels like I'm shocking myself when barehanded from all the holes in my fingers from testing. Plus, it's not worth the chance of getting stung!

We'd all be better off if we'd do that.

My little brother is diabetic (type I). He switched to sticking himself in the arm. He lost some feeling in his fingers...

And the only thing I've ever been zapped by was an anemone (condy). It was like a bee sting.

I'm hypoglycemic. I also do it in my arms. It hurts much less, heals quicker, and is easier than fingers.
