Coral ID

Cool, I have it in my sand bed (obviously), how much lighting should it have? been there for about 3 weeks now and it seems happy, should I move it up or leave it alone? It's under 175watt MHs and 20" deep tank

The Trumpet Coral (aka Candy Cane Coral) is a hardy and relatively peaceful reef inhabitant, with very short sweeper tentacles that minimize its aggressiveness. Trumpet Coral requires moderate lighting and moderate water movement for optimum health, along with the addition of strontium, calcium and other trace elements to the water. It can be sensitive to metal halide lighting in aquariums, but can be acclimated in time. The coloring of this coral depends on the amount of lighting or lack of lighting that it receives in the tank.

It will do well under moderate light, so I wouldn't put it more than halfway up the tank. After you turn the lights out at night, do you see it extend its feeding tentacles? If so, you can target feed it some mysis.

hmm...interesting. I haven't actually seen it at night. The tank is in my office and I usually leave before the 12 hour day cycle is done...I'll have to check that out!!
