clam/scallop id

i can't get a decent picture of this but i was hoping to describe it and maybe someone knows what it is. it appears to have hitchhiked on my rock, but i never noticed it until tonight.

the outer shell is brown with ridges leading from the base up to the opening. the innards consist of a claw like appendage that is blueish purplish. closes when startled. ill try and get a decent pic to post.

oh and it's no bigger than a fingernail

oh and they appear to be able to move. the one i saw earlier is now missing. theres several smaller ones, ill attempt to catch one and get a pic of it

It sounds like some type of tridacid clam... hard to say by description though.

There good for eatting up a few nitrates.
