Another new tank question

So in this new tank, i put in 39lbs of live aragonite sand, giving me a 1 1\2 inch base.

knowing the theory of 1 to 1 1\2 lbs ob live rock per gallon, does the sand offset that/

Nope.

EDIT: Livesand will help with the nitrogen cycle, but liverock is the main form of filtration in the aquarium and should still be placing around 1pd to 1/2 pds per gallon.

+1 and my tank looked empty with a little over 1lb/g. A lot of people recommend upwards of 2lbs/g.

I went with a mid depth sand bed as I also read that it aids in filtration. Mine is about 2 1/2 to 3 inches deep. I didn't keep track of the weight. Maybe 110 lbs? I'm still short on rock, but am adding dry as I can afford it. I have about 92 lbs total in the tank and will add another 20 lbs over time. I will need a pretty serious sand dwelling cleanup crew for my bed. Make sure you have a good cleanup crew as well.
