You have some potent stingers there! b carefull with placement, the large polyp stonys u have (bubble, torch, frogspawn) will reach out touch some one!-keep the brain (LPS also) well away from the three i mentioned a single sting can kill it!
Looks like its snowing? sounds like calcium precipiating out of solution-new tank?
what are your water parameters-should not be adding calcium to new tank-not enough calcium using critters yet to make use of additional Ca.
Looks like derbyisia( type of hair algae) pay attention to mag levels-1300+ high levels inhibit its growth-nip it in the bud now! tuff stuff to control-hows your water parameters?
Thats normal for the skimmer, water density fluctuating-chaeto likes low light in a range of 3000K/5000K the squiggly bulb sounds like compact flourescent should be fine-how bigs your sump/refug?-I have a 20gl sump refug and use 14watts of Led with a color temp of 5000k chaeto thrives also...
Evan, your calcium is low! should be around 400 with your mg being 1200-3/1 mg/ca- those species showing recession are "massive" skeleton lps the most demanding on your ca- those species tend to be vary light tolerant also-
get that ca up to proper levels!!
LOL, sad but true! need to know your critters-I get to work a bit with harbor branches for profit division-ocean reefs & aquariums (O.R.A) had a big workshop
with retailers regarding clam handling!-sounds like that clam was pretty small to be carried around by a urchin they are heavy filter...
I agree with sen5241b, what is your bio load in the tank (stocking)?
tank sounds very new- incomplete cycle or restarting cycle due to additional stock-need to find root cause!
The "foot" is the byssal organ -produces byssal threads to attach clam to substrate
if the organ is gone so is poor clam- typically a healthy clam will byssaly attach within 24hrs-most damage is done @LFS improper handling tearing byssal organ moving clam-what species of clam?
You have plenty of light- leds are a different story-forget that watt per gl junk-depth of tank biggest factor.Derasa are the least light demanding of the giant clams,
But 3-4 yrs from now your clam is going take up some room!
Division! bubble will remain for a week or so until flesh forms on new coralite/polyp-that species is para divisa(branching form) fast grower under
good conditions-I have been farming/aquaculturing that species for 12yrs
Thanks for the welcome everybody!
Will get some pics up-in a day or two! dependent on my Wife as
I do not operate the camera well !! a bit old school when it comes to cameras or computers-John
