Nem is happy as a clam. Open and just fine. All of my zoas and palys save that one have been open, color is beautiful and spitting babies like crazy. I went from 2 rastas to 6 since thanksgiving. WC is with RO as well.

SPS bleaching Rocordia not opening.....Come on now.....

So EVERYTHING was fine in my tank. Until Christmas Eve, I noticed my Green SPS was bleaching, and rapidly at that. I admit Ive been ridiculously busy during the holidays so I neglected testing like I should. So I tested everything and my phosphates were above 20, I did a 50% water change, and...

How long to leave the light on?

You can thank my husband for my irrational fear of crabs. We used to have a tank with a few crabs in it. Well one crawled out and my husband saw it and put it back in. Well I totally freaked when I heard about it and he thought that was funny so he used to tell me that they were going to crawl...

How long to leave the light on?

Your lights should be on no more then 12 hours a day, most people stick around 8 though, I have my lights on for 9. Crabs are sort of notorious for killing snails. I dont like to keep them in my tank because they kill my CUC and well. THEY ARE CREEPY AND CLIMB OUT OF THE TANK seriously though...

How long to leave the light on?

ReefCleaners.org | Clean Up Crews and Macro Algae - Quick Crew (25 Gallon) That is based on a 25 gallon tank, so you would need something bigger however honestly I just think you need a good CUC in there. The crabs are nice, but youll notice they are absent from a standard CUC, I never had a...

How long to leave the light on?

Algae is photosynthetic so having your lights on will increase its growth, however having a good CUC, good water parameters and the correct lighting really reduces it. I leave my lights on 9 hours a day and dont have a problem with algae. I would think that you probably dont have enough snails...

    Clown acting weird

First off, amazon has a ton of test kits and generally for cheaper, plus they come to your door so you might want to look into it. Buying coral without a test kit, IMHO, is really looking for a way to kill things. But since we are here I would look at your tank on the whole Do you have algae...

    Hippo with ich

Thats awesome news! Eating is a good sign!!! He will come out of behind the rock eventually, I think hippo's are the sissys of the salt water tank personally. How long were your lights on before you fed him? Their color fades when they sleep so that may be why he wasnt as vibrant as usual

    Dead fish...any ideas?

Sometimes fish just die, your levels from what I can tell arent really off and if nothing else seems affected then I would guess it was something with the fish. I like to keep my salinity a bit higher then that but it seems you were pretty careful...other more experienced people will chime in though

    Kizmar's 120 gal

I think that little starfish you have is an asterina. From what I read there seem to be mixed reviews on whether they eat your zoas/polyps or not however it seems like most people lean towards they do. If you are going to have anything like that in your tank in the future, I would eradicate the...
