What is a Good Test Kit?

I agree that Salifert kits are good, and I have gone through dozens of them, but recently tried some Red Sea and API kits and they are generally easier to use but also don't generally have as precise measurement (like the Red Sea Nitrate kit minimum measurement is 2ppm where the Salifert...

    New Corals, Acros First attempt.

generally acros can take all the light and flow you can give them but give them a couple weeks where they are then move up or down for couple weeks and find the "sweet spot" Coloration and PE will tell you everything....

    New Corals, Acros First attempt.

Those look great. The BOP is a favorite for me too. If you give the Red Planet a lot of light it may turn all red. From my experience the green color comes in best at lower intensities. You did well on your value, those are nice looking pieces....

    New Corals, Acros First attempt.

Very nice pieces...you are aware that the Birds of Paradise is a birdnest and not an Acropora, right? The purples and deep or dark blues are usually somewhat of a challenge to keep colored up but as long as your water is really impeccably clean and the system very consistent those are the keys...

MitchReef's Reef...well the current one at least....

So....I put Larry, his brother Darrell and his other brother Darrell in the tank last night about 6:00...When the lights went out Zen the Tang finally stopped terrorizing the new kids in the neighborhood and he crawled into a hole to sleep.....When I got up this morning the anthias's were...

    Scooter blenny

Add your pods when the lights are off and the fishies are asleep. That lets them hide and populate before getting eaten in a feeding frenzy. Then you will have pods for a long time, not just for a belly busting meal.

MitchReef's Reef...well the current one at least....

I guess my system is just in "that awkward stage" when the young tank is starting to be stocked and to grow out...I now have my same dozen frags and the Naked and Misbar ocellaris clowns and Powder Brown Tang. I am trying to make time to go by my LFS today. They are holding three very strong...

    Coral Trading

You should try to get pictures and descriptions of what you are looking to trade. I love trading but don't have much that is more than a frag just now. Trades are a great way to get new things and thin what you have, but the eye candy needs to be there!

    New Video With Both MP40's

How are your MP40s set? What wave type and about how far are they turned up? Synchronous or anti-synchronous? I have a 4' 120G currently running one MP40W. I have another one that I was just given, that needs a new magnet and wet frame cover. The magnet was one of the old ones that lost...

    First timer questions

I don't use UV myself, but know several people who do. Also, be aware that if your shrimps are small enough and your wrasses big enough you might be feeding the fish a nice shrimp dinner.

    Dry rock?

You might want to get a little piece of live rock to seed it. That will make a month and a half cycle into about three weeks if it's good LR.

You ought to check out who services the warrantee. A lot have to be shipped to China. Also, you can get a Full Spectrum, dual dimmer light just like it for $179 shipped from Connecticut and with him providing the 2 year in-states Warantee himself. See his website at Reefbreeders.com I have 2...
