Check your Magnesium. Mag is used to bind the nutrients in macroalgae and even more in mangroves. If you don't have enough mag your chaeto cannot take up the nutrients it needs. I stay up around 1450 as high Mag tends to help stabilize the Calcium and Alk and it reduces Green Hair Algae.

The QuietOne pumps are okay if you want a submersible pump....MagDrive pumps are bullet proof but they throw out some heat...and that all warms the water up.... I prefer external pumps myself.....completely....
