    High Nitrates! Help!

Does your step mom have a reef tank? Yeah, tap water is bad news. I used to buy jugs, finally bought an under sink ro unit from lowes. It's awesome.

    inverts?

No. Inverts do not affect your bio load. Your tank will eventually be able to handle that many fish. I've had 8 for quite a while now. A sump and fuge are not necessary. I don't have them. Lots of people don't. Be careful with those cleaner packs. They have waaaaay too many critters. They'll...

Am I on the Right Track?

1.025 is a good number to shoot for. No, corals do not clear up the water, some just won't really grow much in water that is too clean. They thrive in dirtier water. That's all.

    Your preference in lighting.

Adding blue light really makes a difference, makes coral and fish colors pop. IMO

Am I on the Right Track?

A lot of corals are very easy to keep, very forgiving. A lot of them flourish in "dirty"water. Green star polyps, mushrooms, most soft corals actually.

    High Nitrates! Help!

Wow. Ok, first, I'd get a good liquid test kit. Those strips are not the best. How long has your tank been set up? Did your test strip numbers budge when you did the 40% change?

Finally found a Tank on Craigslist!!!

Very fun! I love my chalk bass. I don't know why they aren't more popular. A lot of those will work out well in the 75 if you buy it. Do you know the brands of the skimmer and pumps?

    Tunze 9002 Skimmer problem

It sounds like it's getting too much air, like a hole in the airline or something . They can take a few days to break in.

    Making tank rimless?

If you live by a petsmart they are clearing out their marineland 20 gallon rimless, frameless tanks. It's beautiful, nice and clean look. Glass lid, led light strip. I picked it up dirt cheap a few weeks ago for a new freshwater tank.

Purchased a 14gallon BioCube, and some goodies.

That's a bummer Rob, I hate moving rocks around, plus I'm always worried about bristle worms getting my hands. Gives me the heebie jeebies thinking about it. Rock looks good Steve-I'd leave it all in there, more space for beneficial bacteria to grow and critters to hide.

They should NOT be sitting on the sand. The sand will settle and shift with time. Snails and fish will burrow. Your rocks will move around and you don't want an avalanche. Also, it will just trap nasty stuff underneath them. Rocks always go on glass. :)

    Opae Ula Volcano Bowl

You made that video?? Wow, looks professional. You should come shoot my homemovies, my videos are shaky with an annoying chick talking in the background the whole time. So I had no idea what Opae Ula are. Never heard of 'em, then I watched your video and was like, ohhhh, that's what I have...
