    Red "felt" growing on coral

Hi guys, My gsp has been "plating" up in spots instead of growing out. I ordered a new light and it's coming Monday or Tuesday. Anyhoozle, I tried to move some rocks that had the coral on it and I ticked it off and it retracted. That's when I noticed this red felt like growth on parts of the...

Want Larger tank.. sooner or later

Bigger is always better, but, I'd say, take your time, enjoy your 30 gallon, learn from it and save up! The more you wait and save and research, the better slow and thoughtful start you can get with your upgrade. It is shocking how much you'll have to buy. I went from a 14 gallon to my 60 and...

    Aiptasia and Missing fish

the butterfly, the anthias, and the chromis can all be tricky. None of these ship well and many have had trouble with all of these. Butterflys are hard to keep in tanks, they do best in the wild. Anthias have metabolisms that require lots of feedings, and/or, a very mature tank. Chromis are...

    First causality maybe

Sounds like molt. No worries. It does look like a shrimp body, lots of color, legs. A lot of us have peppermints and never see them. If you want a shrimp you see all the time, you should get a skunk shrimp.

I was also making the "blue steel" face at the time.

    Sarah's new 60 gallon!

Also, in my mechanicalistic zeal, I cracked one of the fittings with the wrench. Picture that scene in Zoolander where Ben and Owen are hopping around the computer making monkey noises and beating on the thing. That's a preeeetty accurate picture of my kitchen yesterday.

    Sarah's new 60 gallon!

I have strengths. I know I do. I just can't think of any now ok. Back off. It's too much pressure. However, mechanicalism (rhymes with cannibalism, go with it) is not one of them. You guys inspired me though, I unearthed the wreckage from the garage and spent a marvelous 3 hours tinkering. I got...

    Sarah's new 60 gallon!

All my fish are alive (knock wood) and prospering. Getting huge as a matter of fact. Well, the one banggai is huge, the other is small and picked on, it's sad. He hides out in a cave in front with my yellow (now gray) watchman. It's actually cool cause the watchman I've had forever, just never...

    Sarah's new 60 gallon!

Update: Loooong over due. Pics to come soon. So I painted the back of the tank yesterday, I don't know why I thought spray painting was my only option. (and an impossible option on my full tank) I grabbed a can of oil based blue and a teeeeny roller and bam, blue back. Looks very nice, I've been...

    Green Chromis dying mysteriously (pic)

This has happened to me as well, almost identically. Twice I've tried to add a school of 3 chromis, just to have them slowly change, lose color in patches, disappear, die off. Try doing a search here, a lot of us have had problems like this with them. There are some theories, they are caught...

    Acquired zoanthid eating nudibranchs

Sounds tedious! good luck. You probably don't want to mess with the wrasse though, getting a certain fish to do what you want never works out. They need bigger tanks too, pretty fish though. Awesome pest pics, you must have a pretty decent camera.

    Too good to be true?

Upgrade time, always fun! I'd ask him if he's ever used copper in it and make sure you have the budget for a skimmer and lights as the ones he has might be worthless if he's just giving the system away. You may also need to get powerheads. The tank and stand are the cheap part, it's everything...

    Looking for some lighting advice

It's funny Bob, I was just watching Tanked and when they reveal the finished tanks they look awesome, and I noticed the lights are always blue. It does make for a beautiful presentation and I was just thinking I want to add more blue lights to my set up. But now that you're saying this, yes, all...

    Lighting!?

Do a search for sarah's 60. I need to update pics on my thread for sure. Beeguiles also has a beautiful tank with amazing corals and uses this light. I know a lot of people are against them, I just hate to see them called junk when they do work and have been a great, affordable, plug and play...
