Not sure I would believe that. The silicone can separate from a smooth glass surface quite easily. I too am in the Bay Area and wonder who you talked to. Standard 120 gallon tanks are still made, and the top frame with cross member is easily obtainable from any LFS that orders tanks.

Apex hands down the very best on the market. Look into Apex jr. Or Apex lite to bring the price point down for your affordability.

    Living Reefs Action Plan!

Totally agree with this. We had a lot of banter back and forth all day every day with site regulars, they are all gone now (biff, Tucan, etc). Why have the remaining regulars not picked up the pace in that absence? Also, it seems everyone in the world is on Facebook (except me) and sharing...

    New Gyer unpacked tonight !!

Thinking of replacing my MP 40's with this. Saw it again at Reef A Palooza running on a fully stocked tank.

    Maxspect Gyer vs 2 MP40's

Saw these at MACNA, they are impressive on tanks with little to no rock work. Would like to see them run on a fully mature system with normal amount of rock and big mature coral colonies.

If you could build the ultimate sump ?

I run my skimmer in the middle of my 3 chamber sump. Though the one I posted earlier is set up to run in the first chamber which if I had a preference is where I would run mine. Thus, why I am buying a Trigger Sump.

    Tap Water in Reef Tank

Stir the sand during the course of your cycle. That will help release anything trapped.

    Getting rid of Palys?

Do it right. Either outside on a camp stove (best way), or turn your hood fan on high before you put the rock in the boiling water on your stove. Proper ventilation is key.

    Getting rid of Palys?

I am boiling mine. You could acid bathe yours, or boil it.

    Desperate for Corals, and advice!

What do you have for flow? Skimmer? And what do you like. I'd start with something easy like zoas. Pick ones you like with plenty of color. No idea about your nem, though it is lacking color most definitely. What are you feeding it?
