normally what ive seen is skunks are twice as much as CBS , and fire shrimp are twcice as much as skunks arouind here CBS range from 8-10$ skunks 20-25$ fire shrimp- 40-50$ with fire shrimps they dont come out as much , so yeas even thoght more expencive you wont see them as much...

from what ive read and heard, its one of those things that it seems easy to DIY but becomes more of a hassle as you get into it, why not just look into a used unit ( making sure it works ) there plenty of people leaving the hobby everyday , im pretty sure you could find a nice unit
